Blessings from Texas!
During the last part of June, John and I were blessed by a visit from my parents. John and Nancy (my sweet parents) arrived on Saturday the 24th for their first trip to Chile. It was so wonderful to visit with them and give them real hugs! I was able to see first-hand how much my mom had recovered from her heart surgery in March. We visited some of the tourist sites: La Moneda: the government building, Cerro San Cristobal: the large statue of Mary overlooking the city, and (my favorite) Vina del Mar and Valparaiso on the coast. I had been wanting to show my dad the port of Valparaiso as well as eat some excellent seafood. We took a boat tour around the bay and saw the Naval fleet and even some sea lions!
My parents were able to attend church for 2 Sundays and experience up close a part of our lives here in Santiago. They met several members of the congregation and joined John and I for our Marriage Encounter Support Group meeting one evening and the youth group worship time and Bible class on Wednesday night. My mom accompanied me during English class on Friday night and helped me teach the Intermediate class.
Along with their luggage, my parents brought goodies from the USA such as brownie mix, Cheetos, coffee, Cheddar-Jack Cheeze Its, Ranch Dip packets, magazines, blue jeans, and socks! (about 15 pair!!) John's mom even threw in several pair for us too. It was like Christmas in June.
More than the food & goodies, it was such a blessing in so many ways to have them here. I never want to take for granted my family and being able to call, email, or webchat and especially hug when I can see them. We draw strength and encouragement from each other. Thanks Mom and Dad for everything!
It was so wonderful to have them here, so very encouraging, and fun! Enjoy the pictures below!
Love you & God Bless, Amanda
