Intern Retreat--April 17th & 18th
All of us interns and our coordinator, Scott, took a trip to Cajon de Maipo, an area in the mountains outside Santiago and away from the smog for 2 days of planning and preparation for the internship program and the university ministry. We had several sessions of discussion and brainstorming to help lay out objectives and goals for the 3 main aspects of the internship: learning about missionary life, learning about cross-cultural evangelism & applying this knowledge by working in the university ministry. This was a great opportunity for us to put ideas on paper as a group and get feedback from Scott, who had previously been extremely busy with the new building. We were able to take advantage of the fact that there are currently 5 university interns here. Some of the interns have been here for over a year already, and will be leaving soon. This also helped us talk about passing off contacts and restructuring some of what we do to lessen the burden on gringo interns, as 3 interns will be leaving by August of this year. Our sessions started with a brief devo from each of us, as we talked about a verse in the Bible that has encouraged us in our work here in Chile. John talked about 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 and Amanda talked about 1 Kings 19.
We love you!
